Treasurer, AIOS

Dear Friends,

At the outset I would like to thank the members of the All India Ophthalmological Society for reposing faith in me and electing me the Treasurer of the society. Being elected to a position of leadership by one’s peers is an honour as well as a challenge and I would love to take this in the most positive manner. It is a privilege and a pleasure to serve as the Treasurer of the parent society of the ophthalmologists of India. Throughout my tenure I would work tirelessly to take the society to the highest level.

As the Treasurer of this academic body, my prime objectives are not only to strengthen the corpus of the society so that multiple activities can be undertaken for the welfare of the members but also to improve the academic standards of the society. We felt that there was a need for a scientific Bulletin at the AIOS level so that every member can connect with the system and working of the society as well as improve the knowledge so as to provide the best eye care facilities to their patients. Knowledge is best improved by sharing and in order to increase the academic environment of the society, we have come up with a scientific magazine – AIOS Times for the members. It will not only help the young ophthalmologists and postgraduate students but also to the practitioners in handling and managing the common ophthalmic problems in their patients. We also invite the members to contribute to this Magazine to share the knowledge so that the general standards of the patient care in Indian Ophthalmology improves further. We would like to create an environment so that our peers can interact by this medium so that they can clear the doubts in their minds regarding Diagnostics and Management aspects of various ophthalmic issues. This is the first step towards a series of academic activities that we are intending to do. We would also do a lot of academic activities at the AIOS headquarter which is till date underutilized. Along with these, the revamped website of the society will also be utilized to share updates and information so as to make it useful for the members.

We would take proactive initiatives from our side and request the members also to help us in our endeavour to keep updating the members.

Once again I convey my sincere gratitude to all the AIOS members and would like to assure you that I will do my level best to live up to your expectations to make the AIOS Greatest.

With Best wishes
