AIOS has always been at the forefront of technology in ophthalmology. Whether it is the launch of new equipment or discussions on investigative and surgical techniques, AIOS through the annual conference or CME’s or its journal has been a part. Today as ophthalmology is more dependent on technology than ever before, the AIOS endeavours to help disseminate knowledge and know-how of those tools and devices which are making a difference. The introduction of TSTC and SSTC courses in the annual conference and courses on electronic medical record keeping are just a few examples of how AIOS is working towards helping you incorporate technology in your practices. The current issue of AIOS Times gives us a flavour of what technology in ophthalmology really is. AIOS Team has interviewed some key opinion leaders in different spheres of ophthalmology and shares with you their thoughts on how technology has played an important role in their practices and subspecialties. This issue also focuses on the newer devices in ophthalmology, some of which are already available for us to use and some of which are at the brink of being available. A look at these, and we realise how technology is going to cause a paradigm shift in the way things are done in ophthalmology. Also in focus are viewpoints regarding what the next ten years will hold for paediatric ophthalmology, strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology.

While you savour the contents of this issue, just remember that at AIOS we are committed to furthering the cause of ophthalmology and this is not possible without the support of technology. The office and society is always connected to the members through email, the social media, and the website and of course telephonically. So for any views and opinions, feel free to contact us. Each opinion counts when it comes to the success of AIOS in fulfilling its objectives.
